Rid your food of chemicals! Grow Organic Food

January 10th, 2010

With all the buzz in the news about e coli on veggies from the supermarket and in fast food chains, and other problems with our Factory Food Supply, it’s no wonder people are looking for alternatives to Supermarket fruits and vegetables. After all, everyone should be concerned for their health! The idea of consuming organic food as an alternative to factory farm food is a good one. It’s healthier for the body and also tastes better. However, there are also other benefits of organic food — the environment and the economy.

Organic foods do not contain any insecticides, pesticides, fungicides or any modern day chemicals, and use organic methods to fertilize the crops instead of petrochemical fertilizers. In contrast, factory farms often use human waste or sewage, which are known to often contain high concentrations of heavy metals such as mercury and lead. Factory farms often use seeds from Monsanto, which have been genetically modified. And Factory farms use pesticides, fungicides and herbicides that don’t easily wash off our food, and can accumulate in the human body.

Health Experts suggest that excessive use of chemicals in our daily foods may cause health problems. Organic farming eliminates nearly all chances of produce coming into contact with such chemicals. Organic farmers use fertile soils that contain many nutrients. But many of us, in this economic climate, have trouble affording Organic fruits and vegetables bought from a health food shop. What’s the solution? Grow your own Organic Food Garden.

There’s a great Ebook on how to do just that. It’s a complete guide for growing organic vegetables.

We all have some responsibility toward our planet. By growing our own organic vegetable garden we not only save money on the grocery bills but also contribute to our own health and the future health of the planet that supports us.
